I interviewed Carmen Hormaza of Iron Will Fitness in Manchester, CT. Carmen has always had a passion for fitness and sports at a young age. She attended college in CT and succeeded past her five years in business. While in college she began training kids, but soon her career gravitated into training adults. She found that training parents was most effective because her knowledge could be passed down to the children.
The challenges she faces running her business is not being able to reach the minds of others and help them learn how to be strong. When she is able to bring in families and it truly makes her happy. Watching everyone grow and become stronger makes her feel useful and gives her great satisfaction. It has always been Carmen’s dream to make a home for fitness and open it up to everyone. 7 years ago she opened Iron Will Fitness with a sole purpose of spreading her knowledge to others. Iron Will is far more than a regular gym. Carmen along with her other trainers take the time to personally know people and learn their bodies and how they respond to commands. Iron Will was designed for intimacy while working out, it truly feels like home, a second family.
After completing this job shadow I realized that hard work gets you to where you want to be. She did fitness training as a side job/hobby and turned it into a full time job. She has inspired me to continue working hard and to eventually turn my hobbies into a career one day.
